Day #9

Today: 35 min.
Worked on: Easy shifting exercises in the positions book for warm-up.  Reviewed NSO pieces and then played Suzuki Book 4 for fun.
Feeling: A little jittery due to today's weight lifting class.  I am hoping my bow arm isn't too heavy tomorrow!

Off to trivia...

Days 5 & 6

Yesterday:
15 min. practiced
Worked on:
Songs for Sept. 11 Northbrook Concert
Feeling:
Energized, glad to get my fingers moving before driving down to the farm for the night.

Today:
20 min. practiced
Worked on:
Songs for Sept. 11 Northbrook Concert & old music from college
Feeling:
Tired.  Didn't practice until after 10 PM, and sore sore sore from tubing yesterday.  Most awkward practice day....although 5 good days out of 6 ain't bad.  Also in search of a sad song...Runt is near death.  I think he'll be gone by morning. :(

Day #4

4 days strong!  Had a filling dinner at Tapalpa and came home and practiced.  I feel that even when I am busy or tired, if I can fit in practice, I can then fit in practice every day.

Today:
30 min. practiced
Worked on:
Songs for Sept. 11 Northbrook Concert
"Give me your tired, your poor" - worked on 16th note passages, speedwork with metronome.
Feeling:
Nose is stuffy.

Day #3

Almost didn't practice today.  Came home from school and napped for 1.5 hours before having to go back to work at 5:00.  Got home again at 9, ate dinner, and practiced from 9:30-9:50.  Way better than doing nothing.

Today:
Practiced 20 minutes.  Did 3 octave scales and worked through the super high ledger line notes.
Feeling:
Relaxed.  High notes were right there; feeling more confident about them than I have in a while.

Thanks to the hubby who encouraged me to keep this up.

Day #2

Day #2 of the 21 day challenge.  Believe it or not, I almost didn't practice today, and it's the second day, sheesh.  Fortunately, some plans I THOUGHT I had fell through, and opened up the evening to practice.  Whee.

Today:
35 min. practiced
Worked on:
Songs for Sept. 11 Northbrook Concert
"Grand Canyon Suite" and "Festival Prelude."  Grand Canyon Suite has lots of sequences and super high notes.  Found my tritones and learned the notes.  Worked out some good fingering.
Feeling:
Relaxed; a little tired.

Day #1

I'm attempting to begin the 21-day challenge, so might as well blog about it while I go along.

It takes 21 days (in a row) to create a habit, so I'd like to get into that habit regarding violin practice.

Today:
45 min. practiced
Worked on:
Songs for Sept. 11 Northbrook Concert
"Noel," "Battle Hymn of the Republic," "The Vacant Chair."
Practiced with metronome with focus on clean shifting.
Feeling:
Relaxed, despite a stuffy nose.  E string notes sounding pretty.
